Bayern To Make Shock Move For Berbatov

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are set to swoop for Manhester United Target Dimitar Berbatov at Tottenham Hotspur, according to reports in Germany.

Bulgarian International Berbatov has been heavily linked with a move from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford, but it now seems that Bayern are set to enter the race and try to lure the classy striker to the Allianz Arena. In what would be a shock move for the Spurs player.

United have so far balked at the £30million asking price for Berbatov, with Spurs reluctant to let the striker leave for one of their Premier League rivals. So a transfer to the German side would appeal to Spurs boss Juande Ramos, who does not want to lose the 27-year-old.

Bayern however, should have no trouble finding that sort of fee, with reports earlier in the summer claiming they were ready to spend £25million on German International Mario Gomez.

Club manager Uli Hoenes said yesterday: “It could be that we complete something in the next few days before the end of the transfer period.

“The transfer pot we have available has also changed and we’ll use it.”

Berbatov could also be open to a move back to the Bundesliga, where he spent five successful years with Bayer Leverkusen before joining the North London club in 2006 for £10.9million. With Bayern also being able to fulfill his wish of playing in the Champions League.
