Spanish International Cesc Fabregas has revealed that he will never compromise his happiness at the Emirates Stadium for a move to another club that are prepared to offer the him more money.
21-year-old Fabregas has been at the Gunners since 2003 and has been consistently linked with a move to La Liga Champions Real Madrid over the last two years, with Premier League rivals Manchester City also naming Fabregas as a January transfer target following the deadline day takeover by the ADUG.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has a strict wage structure in place at the Emirates, with it understood that the unwillingness to bend or break it led to the departure of Mathieu Flamini to AC Milan this summer. There is little doubt City and Real could offer the EURO 2008 Winner improved personal terms to leave the Gunners.
However Fabregas, who has been developed at Arsenal by Wenger since the age of 16 has no intention of leaving the North London side, even if their three-year run without a trophy continues.
“It was not a hard thing for me to stay, I was really relaxed during the summer because I knew I was going to stay so for me that is not a problem,” Fabregas told Setanta Sports News.
“My mentality was there since the day I signed here and I am so happy here that I will never speak about moving if it is going the way it is going. I am happy here and that is it.
“Tell me what is the point of having millions and millions in your bank if then you don’t enjoy playing and you are not happy? For me this is nothing.
“Me I am happy, I love the way we are playing and if I am still here after three seasons without winning anything that means something.
“It is because I love the game, I love the club and the way we play football because I really enjoy it on the field and for me that is the most important thing.”
