Arsenal Track Barca Starlet Busquets

Arsenal are reportedly monitoring the situation at La Liga giants Barcelona, with the Premier League side alerted to reports that Barca starlet Sergio Busquets’ contract talks at the Nou Camp have broken down, according to The Mail.

20-year-old Busquets is a product of the same youth set-up at Barcelona that produced Gunners midfielder Cesc Fabregas, with the young midfielder forcing himself into the Catalan clubs first-team this season after impressing for the Barca B side last season.

Ironically Busquets has been keeping former Arsenal target Yaya Toure out of the Barcelona team, with new Blaugrana coach Pep Guardiola giving the Spanish Under-21 International his chance at Barca, which the youngster has grabbed with both hands.

It is understood that Busquets agent Josep Maria Orobitg met with officials at the Catalan club, but rejected the offer on the table for the midfielder, who is the new rising star in Spanish football.

This has alerted Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who sees the Spaniard as the perfect foil for Fabregas in the Emirates midfield, with a January move for Busquets possible if the midfielder has still failed to sign a new contract with Barcelona.

However, Busquets intends to just concentrate on playing football and insists that the talks will be resolved pretty soon.

Busquets told El Mundo: “I’m focused on playing football and hopefully it will be sorted pretty soon.”
