Arsenal are understood to be monitoring Turkish International striker Mevlut Erding at Ligue 1 side Sochaux, with it believed that the Gunners are ready to make an offer for the forward in January, according to reports in France.
21-year-old Erding has been at Les Lionceaux since the age of 16 and has scored 17 goals in 51 appearances for the French side during his time at the Stade Auguste Bonal. The young striker made his debut for Turkey in March 2008 and has 8 caps for his national side.
Erding was part of Fatih Terim’s Turkish squad for EURO 2008 and played a part in helping Turkey reach the semi-finals of the tournament.
Though the North London side have been linked with a number of players in France by the French media in recent weeks. It is believed that the interest in Erding is genuine and an offer for the striker in January will be forthcoming. Should that bid be substantial enough then it is understood that Erding would be more than open to a switch to the Premier League.
With the striker fitting the bill for Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger’s recruitment policy of bringing in young talent from across Europe to the Emirates Stadium.
