Arsenal's Fabregas In Race To Be Fit For Everton Clash

Arsenal midfielder Cesc Fabregas is in a race to be fit for the Gunners Premier League match with Everton at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday, despite breaking his nose on International duty with Spain.

21-year-old Fabregas suffered the injury during Spain’s 2-1 win over Belgium in their World Cup qualifier on Wednesday, but played on for La Furia Roja and completed the full 90 minutes.

The EURO 2008 Winner is to be assessed by medical staff at the North London club before a decision will be made on whether Fabregas will feature for the Gunners against the Toffees.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will be hoping that Fabregas can take the field at the Emirates on Saturday, with the Spaniard at 21 the oldest and most experienced midfielder available to Wenger.

The Gunners are short on numbers in midfield at the moment, which was identified by Fabregas in comments made yesterday. The midfielder also knows his importance to Wenger, with other midfielders, Theo Walcott (19), Samir Nasri (21), Denilson (20), Alexandre Song (21) and Aaron Ramsey (17) all lacking experience in the Premiership.
