Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King is confident that Spurs can build on their performance in the UEFA Cup, where they drew 1-1 with Polish Champions Wisla Krakow to send them through to the group stages in the tournament.
A Arkadiusz Glowacki own goal saw Tottenham take the lead in the Wisla Stadium before a late equaliser by Pawel Brozek set up a tense final few minutes in Poland.
However, Spurs held on and England International King is now hopeful that despite the North London club sitting rock bottom of the Premier League, Tottenham can build on this result.
King told channel Five: “It was very important to get through.
“A lot has been made of our start and we've not been good in the league - but we've had a good result in the Carling Cup and now we are through in the Uefa Cup so hopefully things can pick up.
“We knew it was going to be tough coming here. The pitch wasn't great - a bit bobbly - and we had to fight for every ball. But we showed some character.”
