Liverpool To Make £10million January Raid For Tottenham's Bale?

Liverpool are planning a £10million January raid on Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur for their defender Gareth Bale, according to The Sun.

19-year-old Welsh International Bale joined Spurs from Championship side Southampton last summer for an initial £5million fee that could double depending on the teenager’s progress at White Hart Lane. However, Bale has had limited opportunity at Tottenham due to injury, but has impressed in the Premiership when appearing for the North London side.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez is looking to strengthen the left side of his Anfield squad, having sold Norwegian International John Arne Riise to Serie A team AS Roma in the summer. Benitez has reportedly identified the attack-minded Bale as the perfect replacement for the Norwegian and is ready to make an offer in January to bring the Welshman to Merseyside.

Tottenham manager Juande Ramos will be reluctant to let Bale leave for Liverpool, having not been able to see the best of the defender at White Hart lane due to Bale’s absence through injury and with Bale signing a new four-year deal last August, but ultimately could decide to cash in on the injury prone teenager in January if the Reds made a substantial offer to lure Bale to Anfield.

However, it is also possible that Bale could be open to a move in January. If Spurs do not improve on what has been their worst start to a season in 53 years, which sees them at the bottom of the league without a win. While Liverpool are enjoying their best ever start to a Premier League season.
