Sunderland manager Roy Keane is lining up another raid on Tottenham Hotspur in the January transfer window, with midfielder Jermaine Jenas topping the former Manchester United players wish-list, according to reports.
The Black Cats are looking to add 25-year-old Jenas to their squad at the Stadium of Light, having already signed Pascal Chimbonda, Teemu Tainio and Steed Malbranque from Spurs during the summer.
Jenas has been at the North London side since joining from Newcastle United in 2005 for £9million and has made almost a 100 appearances for Spurs. The former Nottingham Forest player is also a full England International with 20 caps.
However, Keane will face competition from Everton manager David Moyes, who is also reportedly interested in bringing Jenas to Goodison Park in January to bolster the midfield at the Merseyside club.
Jenas revealed earlier this week that the confidence of the players at White Hart Lane is low after a poor start to Tottenham’s Premier League campaign, with Spurs yet to win a match after their worst start to a season in 53 years.
Should Tottenham’s poor form continue then Jenas may consider a move back to the North East with Sunderland, but any move for the midfielder would be likely to cost the Black Cats in excess of £10million.
