Real Line Up £25million Arsenal Star To Replace Ruud?

Real Madrid are preparing a sensational £25million January swoop for Arsenal striker Emmanuel Adebayor as Los Merengues coach Bernd Schuster looks to replace Dutch International Ruud van Nistelrooy, who has been ruled out for the rest of the La Liga season with a knee injury, according to reports.

Togolese International Adebayor had been heavily linked during the summer with a transfer from the Emirates Stadium to Real’s bitter rivals Barcelona, but opted to stay at the Gunners and signed an improved deal at the North London club.

However, the Daily Mail claim that Arsenal are uncertain whether 24-year-old Adebayor will honour this new deal. Which has alerted the Spanish Champions, who have put Adebayor at the top of their list to replace the prolific Dutchman.

Should a huge offer come in for Adebayor then Wenger will reluctantly let the former Monaco striker leave, having resigned himself to losing the forward during the summer to Barcelona.

However, should Adebayor swap the Premier League for the Bernabeu then he will find that van Nistelrooy’s are big boots to fill, with the striker having scored 45 goals in 67 La Liga appearances for Madrid since his transfer from Premiership Champions Manchester United in 2006.
