Spurs along with Premier League rivals Arsenal have been heavily linked with 21-year-old Hennessey in recent weeks. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is understood to be keen to bring Hennessey to the Emirates Stadium to provide competition for current No1 Manuel Almunia. While Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has been linked with a number of keeper’s since his arrival at White Hart Lane from Portsmouth, with the Spurs boss not convinced by summer signing Heurelho Gomes, who has made a string of high-profile errors in the Premiership since his £7.8million switch from PSV Eindhoven.

Hennessey, despite being named in the PFA Championship Team of the Year last season and already the established No1 for Wales has lost his place to Carl Ikeme in the Wolves team this season and is understood to have told manager Mick McCarthy that he will not stay at Wolves if he is to remain on the bench with Hennessey concerned that it will affect his position for Wales, which has come under threat from Hull City’s Boaz Myhill.

While McCarthy has publicly stated that Hennessey will remain at the Molineux Stadium. A source close to Wolves has told Premiershiplatest.com that talks have already taken place for Hennessey to make the switch to the North London club, with Spurs already agreeing terms with the player to take him to White Hart Lane for a fee in the region of £6million in January.

“While officials at the club questioned McCarthy’s decision to drop Hennessey in favour of Ikeme,” A source close to Wolves told Premiershiplatest.com.

“McCarthy has taken the stance that he doesn’t want an unhappy player at Wolves and will leave him on the bench until he is sold in January.

“Talks have already taken place and a move to Spurs in January is a done deal at around £6million.”

Man United Set To Raid Spurs Again In January?

Premier League Champions Manchester United are set to make another raid on Tottenham Hotspur in January, with Welsh International Gareth Bale the target, according to The Daily Mail.

19-year-old Bale only arrived at Spurs last in 2007 from Championship side Southampton, but his ability to play either as a left-back or further up the field has attracted the attention of United manager Sir Alex Ferguson, who could make a move for the Welshman as early as January.

Should the European Champions follow up their reported interest in January then new Spurs boss Harry Redknapp is likely to want to make a considerable profit on the £10million the North London club paid Southampton. With it believed that Redknapp has already started sounding out possible alternatives for Bale should he decide to make the move from White Hart Lane to Old Trafford.

However, Tottenham are likely to resist any move for Bale by United, having already seen England International Michael Carrick move to the Red Devils in 2006 and more recently star-striker Dimitar Berbatov this summer.

Bale has only made 16 league appearances for Tottenham since his move from Southampton due to a series of injuries and had to sit out most of the last Premiership season, but is under contract at White Hart Lane until 2012, having signed a new four-year deal in August.
