West Ham United are reportedly preparing to make an £8million offer to Arsenal for Swiss International Johan Djourou, according to The Mirror.
Hammers boss Alan Curbishley is eager to add a central-defender to his Upton Park squad before the transfer window slams shut after the departure of Anton Ferdinand to Sunderland last week.
West Ham are understood to be about to launch a £8million offer for 21-year-old Djourou, who has been at the Gunners since 2004, but has had limited opportunities, with the defender only making 31 appearances for the first-team.
However, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is unlikely to let Djourou leave the Emirates Stadium, having just allowed Djourou’s International team-mate Philippe Senderos to Join AC Milan on a seasons loan.
On the other hand he could be tempted to cash in on a player that has struggled to make the grade at Arsenal, knowing that new signing Mikael Silvestre can play in the heart of defence.
