German International Christoph Metzelder is reportedly about to join Premier League club Arsenal on loan, according to the Sunday People.
27-year-old Metzelder currently plays for La Liga Champions Real Madrid, but is thiught to be surplus to requirements at the Bernabeu and could be set for a shock switch to the Emirates Stadium.
Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has just let Philippe Senderos leave for the San Siro on a season-long loan to AC Milan, with the Frenchman also reportedly weighing up a £8million offer for Johan Djourou from West Ham United. Giving more credence that the German is to arrive at Arsenal as short-term cover.
Metzelder joined Real from Borussia Dortmund last summer, but has failed to show the form in La Liga that has seen him capped 47 times for Germany, with the defender only making 9 appearances for the Madrid side last season.
