Russian International Andrei Arshavin has conceded that his long protracted transfer to Tottenham Hotspur from Zenit St Petersburg is unlikely to happen.
The 27-year-old playmaker has been a target for Spurs manager Juande Ramos all summer, but talks have stalled due to the two sides not being able to agree on a fee for the EURO 2008 star.
Zenit have stood firm on their £24million (€29.8m) asking price for Arshavin, but Tottenham have refused to meet their valuation and have turned elsewhere in their search for a striker.
Arshavin’s International strike-partner Roman Pavlyuchenko is expected to make his switch to White Hart Lane in the next 48 hours from Spartak Moscow. With this prompting Arshavin to admit that it is unlikely that he will be joining his fellow countryman at the North London club.
“I have a feeling we can put this story to bed,” he told Sport Express.
“I think with the purchase of Pavlyuchenko the idea of Arshavin (moving) to London no longer exists.
When asked if his future is at Zenit, he replied: “It looks that way.”
