Arsenal & Barca Not 'The Perfect Choice' For Chelsea's Kalou

Ivory Coast International Salomon Kalou has moved to dismiss recent reports that he is ready to leave Chelsea in January for Premier League rivals Arsenal or La Liga giants Barcelona.

Reports had suggested that Kalou was ready to quit Stamford Bridge, with the 23-year-old said to be frustrated at the lack of starts under Blues boss Luiz Felipe Scolari and would consider a January move should his situation not improve at the West London club.

Scolari revealed shortly after the transfer window closed that Gunners boss Arsene Wenger had made an approach during the summer to bring Kalou to the Emirates Stadium. With a new approach being mooted for January after the forward claimed that any move away from Chelsea would have to be ‘the perfect choice’ for the young Ivorian.

Meanwhile reports in Spain claimed that Barca were also interested in bringing the former Feyenoord player to the Nou Camp. However, Kalou has received more playing time under Scolari, with the striker scoring an important equaliser for Chelsea against Manchester United in their crunch Premiership clash.

This has led Kalou to declare that he wants to become an important player for Chelsea by working hard and scoring more goals.

“I want to be one of Chelsea's most important players,” Kalou said.

“I'm going to have to work hard, score a lot of goals and help set more up. I hope we can win all the competitions we're in.”
