Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has told the new owners of Manchester City the ADUG group that Spanish International Cesc Fabregas is not for sale, while also ruling out any move to bring free agent Stephen Appiah to the Emirates Stadium.
The ADUG named Fabregas as one of several players they would make big money moves for in the January transfer window last week, but this has infuriated Wenger, who has blasted the Eastlands club for naming players that are under contract to other clubs.
Wenger said: “The rules are there. Let's get them respected. You cannot come out and say 'next week we pay £250,000 to Ronaldo and £135 million' when the player is under contract with Man United. It's not possible or acceptable.”
The Gunners chief also claimed that clubs must work within their financial constraints of their business rather than relying on rich owners to bail them out.
“If you push that too far, there are no rules any more,” he added.
“Once you get to the prices mentioned in the media, where is the logic? There is too much destabilisation.”
Meanwhile, the Frenchman has categorically ruled out a move for Ghana captain Appiah, who has reportedly been a target for the North London side along with Portsmouth and West Ham United.
Wenger said on the subject: “No, we are not on the case.”
