Arsenal To Swoop For Brazilian International Free Agent

Arsenal are understood to be considering a move for Brazilian International Mineiro, who is a free agent after leaving Bundesliga team Hertha Berlin this summer, according to Skysports.com.

33-year-old Mineiro has played 25 times for Brazil, and is believed to have attracted the attention of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger, who failed to bring a defensive midfielder to the Emirates Stadium before the transfer window closed.

Wenger has also been linked with a move for Ghana captain Stephen Appiah, who is also a free agent, but a move for Mineiro seems more likely, with reports that the Brazilian visited the Arsenal training ground earlier this week after being invited by the North London club.

However, Birmingham City are also interested in Mineiro, but should Wenger follow up his initial approach for the midfielder, Mineiro would favour a move to the Emirates over St Andrews.
