Curbishley Set For Premier League Return With Newcastle?

Alan Curbishley could be set for a quick return to managing in the Premier League with up for sale Newcastle United, according to reports in the media.

The Magpies have been searching for a new boss since Kevin Keegan quit St James Park for a second time shortly after the transfer window shut. It is believed that Curbishley, has been placed on a shortlist, along with former Aston Villa manager David O’Leary by Newcastle managing director Derek Llambias, to fill the void left by Toon favourite Keegan.

However, Curbishley could be reluctant to take the job at St James Park, due to Keegan leaving for similar reasons to him resigning from the Hammers, which is interference from the board in transfer policy, but the prospect of managing a big club like Newcastle might prove to tempting for the former Charlton Athletic boss.

Former Spurs player and coach Chris Hughton is currently caretaker manager at St James Park, but is not thought to be in the running for the post.
