Finnan Shown Anfield Exit As Part Of Riera Deal

Republic of Ireland International Steve Finnan has made a shock move from Liverpool to Espanyol.

32-year-old Finnan is understood to have been part of the deal that saw winger Albert Riera complete his move from the La liga club on Monday. With the former Fulham player being told he has no future at the Reds by manager Rafa Benitez.

Finnan will join Espanyol on a two-year deal after five years with Liverpool and will replace Argentine Gold medallist Pablo Zabaleta, who has joined Liverpool’s Premier League rivals Manchester City.

The right-back is due to spend the next week or so away on International duty with the Republic of Ireland, but should be available to make his La Liga debut in the match against Getafe on September 21st.
