Arsenal are believed to be considering a late bid for Portuguese International Miguel Veloso from Sporting Lisbon, according to his agent Paulo Barbosa.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for 22-year-old Veloso all summer, with manager Arsene Wenger making no secret of his desire to add one quality midfielder to his squad at the Emirates stadium.
However, Barbosa has revealed that while there has been no formal offer for Veloso from Arsenal, it is expected to materialise quickly in order to beat off competition from Serie A giants Juventus and AC Milan, who are also interested in the defensive-midfielder.
Barbosa said: “We did not have normal contact from the Arsenal board, but from a member of the technical staff at the club.
“At the moment there is not a formal offer yet, but it is possible that will happen soon as Juventus and AC Milan have shown an equal interest.”
Arsenal’s North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur were also reportedly interested in the Lisbon player, but Barbosa made no mention of any approach from Spurs.
