Hull Manager Brown Blasts Players For being 0-0 At Half-Time Against Arsenal

Hull City boss Phil Brown has revealed that he was angry with his players for coming into half-time 0-0 with Arsenal in their Premier League match on Saturday, despite the Gunners only having ever lost once at the Emirates Stadium since they moved there from Highbury in 2006.

Brown has said how he tore into his Tigers team after they came in at half-time pleased to be drawing 0-0 with the North London side. The City manager has revealed that he turned on his players for not believing they could win and gave them a half-time roasting before sending them out for the second half.

This did the trick, despite Arsenal scoring first, Hull came back to win 2-1, with Daniel Cousin scoring the winner after a Geovanni contender for goal of the season gave them the equaliser. Which condemned Arsene Wenger’s side to their second defeat at the Emirates, while maintaining Hull’s unbeaten record on their travels from the KC Stadium this season.

Brown said: “We picked a team to come here and cause them problems. We have a drive, an endeavour and a belief that we can come to places and get a result.

“I was disappointed with our display in the first half when we came off at 0-0 because I wanted to win. To say I was harsh in my criticism would be an understatement.

“It's one of my greatest results - Wembley and Newcastle were great but we're proving people wrong all the time. We've got the same number of points as Derby with 32 games left so it's a fantastic day!”
