Man City Boss Hughes Targets Big January Signings To Push City Into Top Four

Manchester City boss Mark Hughes has revealed that he wants his side at the Eastlands Stadium to keep pace with the top four until January, when he can call on new owner’s the ADUG to fund the transfers of new arrivals to the Manchester club.

The ADUG caused some waves in the football world on transfer deadline day, with big money offers for top world stars. Which resulted in Brazilian International Robinho making the switch from La Liga Champions Real Madrid for a British record £32.5million fee.

Hughes now sees the January transfer window as vital to bring in more quality to his City team. So that the club can mount a serious challenge to gatecrash the so-called ‘big four’ of the Premier League.

Hughes told the Manchester Evening News: “There has been a lot of hype surrounding the club, so perhaps some of the comments are understandable.

“But it is early days for us. When you think about it, we have had the benefit of one day in the transfer window to address the weaknesses that were in the team.

“We will have another opportunity in January, when we will try to bring more good players to the club.

“If we are still in touch, which we expect to be, we can sustain a challenge right to the end.”
