Tottenham Legend Sheringham Backs Bentley To Be 'Very Special' For Spurs

Former Tottenham Hotspur legend Teddy Sheringham has revealed that England International David Bentley, who made the move from Blackburn Rovers to White Hart lane this summer, could be a ‘very special’ player for Spurs.

Sheringham, who had two spells at the North London side between 1992-1997 and 2001-2003 also claimed that he thought the Spurs team would take time to gel under manager Juande Ramos, with the arrival of Croatian’s Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka this summer, along with Mexican teenager Giovanni Dos Santos, who the former Manchester United striker thought would take until Christmas to settle into the style of the Premier League.

He said: “They will take time to gel because some of them have come from so far away. Eastern Europeans and Latin Americans need a while to get used to the game here. It may not be until after Christmas that they are all playing at their full potential.

“But there is a really nice balance to the team if it all works as it should. It could be very exciting. For me, the most interesting prospect is how Bentley can progress. He’s got the talent to be very special and I’m looking forward to seeing if he can fulfil it.”
