Wigan Land Ghanaian International Free Agent

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has confirmed that Ghanaian International goalkeeper Richard Kingson has signed a two-year deal at the JJB Stadium.

30-year-old Kingson will provide cover for Latics number 1 Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt and will replace Carlo Nash, who moved to Everton earlier in the summer.

“He was always in the back of my mind when we let Carlo Nash go to Everton,” Bruce said.

“Carlo was a bit frustrated with the number of games he got, with the outstanding contributions of Chris Kirkland and Mike Pollitt, Carlo decided to try his luck elsewhere.

“So we are delighted to have brought in Richard on a two-year deal and he will be a good acquisition for us.”

However, Kingson is unlikely to feature much at Wigan in the coming Premiership season, but will be happy to be back in the Premier League after being released by Championship side Birmingham City earlier this summer, having only made a solitary appearance during his season at St Andrews.
