Newcastle v Hull Premiership Preview: Duff & Viduka Still Missing For Magpies - King To Return For Latics

Managerless Newcastle United take on Premier League debutantes Hull City at St James’ Park on Saturday.

The Magpies, who are without a manager after Kevin Keegan quit soon after the transfer window closed, will hope to put the off-field activities behind them and build on a promising start, which sees them in 11th place in the table, with former Spurs player and coach Chris Hughton taking charge for the visit of the Tigers.

Phil Brown will want to see his side bounce straight back from their first defeat in the Premier League, a 5-0 thrashing by Wigan Athletic at the KC Stadium. And seize the opportunity of the turmoil at Newcastle to get a result and see the Yorkshire club consolidate their mid-table placing.

The Magpies have the worst injury list in the Premiership, with new signing Jonas Gutierrez (shoulder) a major doubt, along with Jose Enrique (hamstring), Damien Duff (knee), Obafemi Martins (groin), Andy Carroll (ankle), Mark Viduka (achilles), Wesley Ngo Baheng (knee) and Kazenga LuaLua (ankle) all missing. While Gerimi and Cacapa, are struggling to make the visit of the Tigers. In addition to this Joey Barton is starting his suspension handed out by the FA. New signings Xisco and Ignacio Gonzalez could feature.

Hull on the other hand welcome back Anthony Gardner and Marlon King, who had to sit out the defeat against parent club Wigan, with George Boateng racing to be fit in time for the trip to the North East.
