No Gunners Deal For Free Agent Mineiro

Arsenal have opted against offering free agent Carlos Mineiro, who was released by Bundesliga side Hertha Berlin in the summer, a contract at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners had Mineiro at the North London club on trial, with Mineiro playing in an arranged friendly against Fulham behind closed doors in a bid to earn a contract with Arsene Wenger’s team.

However, Wenger has decided not to offer the 33-year-old Brazilian International a deal at the Premier League side, despite Arsenal being short of numbers in midfield. Wenger will now probably have to wait until January before strengthening his squad, with the Frenchman recently ruling out a move for Ghana captain Stephen Appiah, who is also a free agent.

Mineiro may now be offered a chance by Birmingham City boss Alex McLeish, who is reportedly keen to bring the Brazilian to St Andrews, while other reports also claim that Chelsea hold an interest in Mineiro, in light of the long-term injury to Michael Essien.
