Harry Redknapp’s Portsmouth entertain Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League match at Fratton Park on Sunday.
Redknapp will be looking for a reaction from his Pompey squad after a 6-0 humiliation by Manchester City at the Eastlands Stadium last weekend followed by a home mauling 4-0 in the Carling Cup by Chelsea. Their second 4-0 loss to the West London side this season. However, Portsmouth will be targeting a win against a Spurs team that has yet to win in the Premiership this season.
Tottenham are still searching for their first league win under manager Juande Ramos and are bottom of the table with just two points. However, Spurs will be boosted by their win in the Carling Cup against Newcastle United on Wednesday, which saw new signing Roman Pavlyuchenko net his first goal for Tottenham since his summer move to White Hart Lane, with Tottenham going into this clash unbeaten in their last three games.
Portsmouth have a growing injury list ahead of this important clash, with Sean Davis (groin), Lauren (knee), Jerome Thomas (back), Niko Kranjcar (ankle), Richard Hughes (calf) and Ben Sahar (knee) all set to miss the visit of Spurs. Younes Kaboul and Jermain Defoe are set to face their former side.
Spurs look set to welcome back Luka Modric from injury after the Croatian came on as a substitute in the Carling Cup game at St James’ Park, but are still without Hossam Ghaly (knee) and Alan Hutton (ankle), for who a return date has still not been set.
