Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos is hoping that new signing Roman Pavlyuchenko’s first goal for Spurs against Newcastle United in the Carling Cup will help the striker settle at the North London club.
Pavlyuchenko, who was a £14million summer signing from Spartak Moscow has admitted to finding it hard to settle at Spurs, with the Russian International claiming on Wednesday that he had been shocked by the intensity of the training at White Hart Lane.
The 26-year-old failed to score on his Premier League debut against Aston Villa and was taken off at half-time by Ramos against Wigan Athletic last Sunday.
However, Pavlyuchenko broke his duck against the Magpies in Tottenham’s 2-1 Carling Cup win at St James’ Park, with Ramos believing that it will be an important goal for the Russian and help him to settle in the Premiership.
“The goal was very important for Roman and very important for the team,” said Ramos on Spurs’ official website.
“It's not been easy for him, he's only been here two weeks and I hope this will help him.
“He is certainly very happy about it and his goal helped us to go on and win the game.”
