Ramos Hoping Spurs Can Build On Chelsea Performance Against Villa

Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos is under no illusion that his Spurs side need to build on the performance against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in their last Premier League match with a win against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on Monday.

Spurs picked up their first point of this Premiership campaign with a spirited display at Chelsea in a 1-1 draw, after losing their first two games of the season to Middlesbrough and Sunderland, with Ramos now looking to the game with the Villans on Monday for Tottenham to gain their first win of the season.

A win against Villa is vital for Spurs as they languish second from bottom in the table, with Ramos believing that his North London side are capable of winning all their matches at White Hart Lane.

‘I hope the confidence is high because at Chelsea we played well and showed we can play against the big teams,” Ramos said.

‘We now need to play in a similar way against Aston Villa and win.

“Villa is a good team - as they were last season. It is a team with experience, they play in Europe, a tough team to play and it will be difficult for us but we are at home and it's possible to win all those matches.

“It's very important to win. After the draw at Chelsea, if we win the match and get the three points it will be very good for the confidence, for the players, for the fans, for everyone.”
