Record Man City Signing Robinho To Face Chelsea & Scolari In Premier League Debut

British record signing Robinho is due to make his Premier League bow for Manchester City against the club he snubbed to join City on transfer deadline day, Chelsea.

Robinho, who was widely expected to make the switch from Real Madrid to Stamford Bridge and not the Eastlands Stadium is expected to feature in the match against Luiz Felipe Scolari’s side, according to City boss Mark Hughes.

Hughes said: “The likelihood is that Robinho will be involved. The great thing about Robinho is that he offers us options as to where he can play and that kind of flexibility is something I am always looking for in players.

“He can play wide on the left, behind a striker or alongside a target man and that will be invaluable. He is the sort of player who can affect the game wherever he is on the pitch.”

Scolari, who was in charge of Brazil when Robinho first came to prominence with Santos, thought that the West London club had secured a deal with Los Merengues for the Brazilian International and that he would be reunited with his former charge.

However, Robinho chose to make the late £32.5million move to the Eastlands and now looks set to face both Chelsea and his former Brazil Boss in his Premiership debut.
