Arsenal's Eduardo Aiming To Fire For Gunners By Christmas

Croatian International Eduardo is hoping to be back in action before the end of the year with Arsenal after being out of the Gunners side since February with a broken leg after a horrific challenge from Martin Taylor of Birmingham City.

25-year-old Eduardo arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Dinamo Zagreb for £7.5million last summer, but has had to sit on the sidelines since February at the North London club after a promising start to his career in the Premier League with Arsene Wenger’s side.

Having missed out on EURO 2008 with Croatia, Eduardo is now setting his sights on firing for the Gunners before the year is out, with the Brazilian-born striker ahead of schedule in his recovery.

“My leg is getting better all the time and I hope to be back playing again by Christmas,” Eduardo told Setanta Sports.

“It has been a long road to recovery, and there is still a lot of hard work left to do, but everything is going well and I should be back playing again soon.”

This will come as a boost to Wenger, who is hoping for the safe return of his squad members on International duty and is considering giving Mikael Silvestre his debut against Blackburn Rovers after a thigh problem, but Samir Nasri is due to miss the clash at Ewood Park, with a knee injury.

Wenger said: “Let's hope first that everybody comes back without any injury and, secondly, with a positive experience. It is of course a worrying time for the managers.

“The earliest they come back is Thursday midday, you play on Saturday afternoon and you have to be at your best.”
