Spurs' Lennon Shock Name On Shortlist To Replace Robinho At Real Madrid

Tottenham Hotspur winger Aaron Lennon is reportedly on a shortlist made by Real Madrid to replace Robinho in the January transfer window, according to The Mail.

The Los Merengues first choice to replace the Brazilian International, who left the Bernabeu for Manchester City on transfer deadline day is Olympic Gold medallist Angel Di Maria at Benfica, but the Portuguese side will not sell for any less than the £24million buy-out clause, with Chelsea and Inter Milan also linked to Di Maria.

Should the La Liga Champions fail to land Di Maria they intend to turn their attention to England International Lennon, who has emerged as a shock candidate, along with Rodrigo Palacio of Boca Juniors, Brazilian Nilmar and Dutch International, Klaas Jan Huntelaar of Ajax.

Lennon’s inclusion on this list is a surprise, with the 21-year-old not showing the form in the Premier League for Spurs of late that first brought him to prominence as a 16-year-old with Leeds United. However, Lennon does have 9 caps for England and is a regular at White Hart Lane under manager Juande Ramos.
