Tottenham Keeper Gomes: Ramos Could Not Count On Berbatov

Brazilian International goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes has revealed that now Dimitar Berbatov has made his long protracted move to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur manager Juande Ramos has been left with a squad at White Hart Lane that he can ‘count on’.

27-year-old Gomes, who joined the Spurs this summer in a £7.8million transfer from Eredivisie Champions PSV Eindhoven has also claimed that the team will remain ‘strong’ even without the Bulgarian striker, who left for Old Trafford in a £30.75million deal on transfer deadline day and that Ramos’ North London side will still fight for a top four place in the Premier League this season.

Gomes told The Sun: “Our poor start is due mainly because Juande Ramos was still tuning up the squad. Now he knows, who he can and can't count on.

“Berbatov is a great player but he had an opportunity that was not only good for him, but for the club and now he's left so we move on.

“Our team remains strong, even without him, and with the same will to fight for the top four places.”
