Arsenal are on red alert after reports that Juventus starlet Sebastian Giovinco’s contract talks with La Vecchia Signora have broken down again after the Serie A giants refused to meet the attacking-midfielder’s demands for €1million-a-year.
Giovinco has been in talks with the Turin side for six months and had declared last week that he was close to signing a new deal with Juve, while convinced that the Italian club were going to meet his pay demands.
He said last week: “I am really happy, the problems regarding the renewal have all been resolved.”
However, it has now been reported that Juventus sporting director Alessio Secco is not prepared to offer Giovinco any more than the other youngster’s at Juve, which is around €450,00-a-year and has put a block on new deal.
21-year-old Giovinco is believed to be furious at this offer, with the Italian International feeling the offer made is an insult considering his potential and talent. With Giovinco ready to leave in the January transfer window if the matter is not brought to a conclusion quickly.
The Gunners have been tracking Giovinco for a while now and the Juve Youth Academy product has been in sublime form for Le Zebre after spending last season on loan with Empoli. With Juve boss Claudio Ranieri seeing the youngster as the heir to Czech legend Pavel Nedved.
Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger will be pleased to hear that the Italian’s talks with Juve have broken down again and it is expected that Wenger will make a move to bring Giovinco, who would cost in the region of £6million to the Premier League in January.
