Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is preparing a January raid on Eredivisie Champions PSV Eindhoven for talented midfielder Ibrahim Afellay.
Dutch International Afellay has also been linked with a January move to Premier League Champions Manchester United along with local rivals Man City, who are also keen to bring the 22-year-old playmaker to the Eastlands Stadium.
PSV have put an £11million buyout clause in Afelllay’s contract at the Philips Stadion, but are understood to be willing to let the player leave Holland for considerably less. With Wenger reportedly ready to make a £6million offer to lure the young Dutchman to the Emirates in January.
Afellay has been at PSV since 2003 and has been compared to Dutch legend Johan Cruyff by former Dutch International Ronald Koeman.
Koeman said: “Ibrahim has certain things in his style that can be compared to Johan Cruyff’s game.
“He can speed up with the ball, he can whizz past players as if they are puppets. He has qualities as an attacker which we hardly see these days in football.”
