Arsenal's Fabregas Dismisses Contract Speculation As 'Mischief Making'

Spanish International Cesc Fabregas has slammed speculation in the media that claimed he has rejected a new deal at Arsenal as “mischief making”, with the midfielder insisting he is focussed on doing his best for Arsene Wenger’s North London club.

Speculation in the Sunday tabloids made the claim that 21-year-old Fabregas had turned down a new £90,000-a-week deal at the Emirates Stadium, with it also claimed that Fabregas rejected the offer in order to see what La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona would offer the midfielder in the summer.

However, Fabregas has dismissed the claims out of hand and insists his long-term future is with the Gunners in the Premier League and not at the Nou Camp or Bernabeu in Spain.

“A newspaper report suggesting that I have rejected a new contract is untrue,” Fabregas told the club's official website.

“The article is just mischief-making.

“Everybody knows I have a long-term contract and that I am happy here. I'm focused on doing my best for Arsenal.”
