Hargreaves To Be Shown The Door At United? - Man City & Barcelona Linked

England International Owen Hargreaves could be on his way out of Manchester United when the transfer window reopens in January. With it claimed that United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has grown tired of the midfielder’s persistent injury problems since his move from Bayern Munich in 2007, according to The news of the World.

Hargreaves arrived at Old Trafford for £17million last summer from the Bundesliga club, but has been limited in his appearances for the Red Devils and now looks set to have his short career with the Premier League Champions cut short in January, with La Liga giants Barcelona and local rivals Manchester City reportedly interested in the 27-year-old.

United would prefer to sell Hargreaves to Barcelona rather than another Premiership club, especially their local rivals City, with any transfer fee understood to be nowhere near the price Ferguson paid to lure the midfielder away from the Allianz Arena.

Hargreaves will be reluctant to leave Old Trafford, but Ferguson has shown in the past, with the departures of Jaap Stam, David Beckham, Ruud van Nistelrooy, Diego Forlan and Louis Saha that there is no room for sentiment at the European Champions.
