Bentley: I Know People Are Laughing At Spurs

England International David Bentley has insisted that while people “are having a laugh” at the current plight of the North London side, who are rock bottom of the Premier League without a win. It is up to the players at White Hart Lane “to stop the jokes” by turning Spurs’ season around.

Both Tottenham boss Juande Ramos and sporting director Damien Comoli have come under intense scrutiny over recent days. With Tottenham still without a Premiership win and only two points from their seven games, which represents the worst start to a season for Spurs since the Titanic sunk in 1912.

“I know people are having a laugh at the fact we are bottom of the league at the moment but it's up to everyone at the club to stop the jokes,” Bentley told The Sun.

“We're not happy with what has been happening. You cannot hide from the situation but what we need are a team of leaders who take responsibility. We have to grow as people.

“We have more than enough good players at Tottenham to get us out of this situation and I give my word that we will.”

24-year-old Bentley, who arrived at Spurs in the summer in a £15million deal from Blackburn Rovers has also given his 100% backing to Ramos and is adamant that he made the right choice in leaving Ewood Park for North London in the summer.

“I'm fully behind him {Ramos}, 100 per cent," the 24-year-old continued.

“I still love being at Spurs and I don't regret joining the club for one second.”
