Liverpool have extended the trial of Southend United midfielder Medi Abalimba, who will now remain at Anfield until the end of the week, Southend confirmed today.
16-year-old Medi turned out for the Reds in a reserve clash with Manchester City on Tuesday, with the youngster playing for just over an hour in the 1-0 loss to City.
The coaching staff at the Merseyside club, wish to have another look at the Congolese player, with the youngster staying on at the Melwood training ground to play in a practise match on Friday during the International break.
Medi has revealed that even if nothing should come of it then it has been a good experience at the Premier League club and that it is a big help to know the level he has to aim for.
“There is a training game on Friday that I am playing in and even if nothing comes of all this it has been a good experience,” Medi told southendunited.co.uk.
“To now know the actual standard I am aiming for will be a big help if I want to play at the top level.”
