Chelsea To Make January Offer For Lavezzi?

Chelsea could make a January bid for Napoli striker Ezequiel Lavezzi, with the West London club looking at alternatives to French International Nicolas Anelka, according to reports.

The Blues are reportedly looking at alternatives to French International Nicolas Anelka, who has not lived up to expectations since his move from Premier League rivals Bolton Wanderers. Chelsea, are also missing main forward Didier Drogba through injury, with the possibility that the Ivory Coast International might suffer a relapse in his comeback from a knee problem.

Scout Frank Arnesen has been searching Europe for a striker to bring to Stamford Bridge in January and has identified Argentine International Lavezzi as one of the superstars of the future after the impact the forward has made in Serie A since his arrival at Napoli from San Lorenzo in 2007.

Chelsea are understood to be lining up a £10million offer for the 23-year-old Olympic Gold Medallist in January, who still has five years to run on his contract at the Stadio San Paolo, according to The Mirror.

However, the Azzurri will be reluctant to sell one of their prized assets with the Italian club standing firm over the sale of Marek Hamsek during the summer because they are building for the future. Which would mean Chelsea having to make an offer they couldn’t refuse to bring the talented Lavezzi to the Premiership.
