Tottenham Hotspur captain Ledley King is poised to return to the Spurs team for their UEFA Cup second-leg clash with Polish side Wisla Krakow on Thursday.
King has been unable to play back-to-back matches for the North London club yet this season due to persistent knee problems that have often kept the 27-year-old on the sidelines at White Hart Lane this campaign.
The England International has featured in Tottenham’s only two wins this season against Krakow and Newcastle United in the Carling Cup, with Spurs boss Juande Ramos eager to have King in the team for this vita European tie.
However, Tottenham are unable to call on new signings Vedran Corluka and Roman Pavlyuchenko, who are both cup-tied. While Ramos will give left-back Gareth Bale a late fitness test to see if the Welsh teenager has shaken off a foot injury.
Ramos revealed: “Pavlyuchenko and Corluka can't play in Europe, Ledley King can't play in every match, Gareth Bale is injured, we have small injuries each week and I need to change three or four players every match.”
