Spurs Pair Modric & Pavlyuchenko Set To Face Former Clubs In UEFA Cup

Struggling Tottenham Hotspur have been drawn against Serie A side Udinese along with NEC Nijmegen from Holland, Spartak Moscow and Dinamo Zagreb in the group stages of the UEFA Cup.

Juande Ramos’ team are rock bottom of the Premier League without a win in seven games in the Premiership, but will have been happy to be given a top seeding for the draw. Which meant the North London side avoiding other top seeds like AC Milan or Ramos’ former club Sevilla, who Ramos won the trophy with twice.

The draw does throw up some interesting clashes however, with Spurs new summer signings Luka Modric and Roman Pavlyuchenko set to face the clubs they left in the summer. Modric was a £16.5million capture from Dinamo Zagreb, while Pavlyuchenko arrived at White Hart Lane in a £14million deal from Russian club Spartak Moscow.

Spurs have been placed in Group D and will play two home ties and two away ones, with the top three teams qualifying for the knockout stages of the tournament.

Ties to be played on October 23rd, November 6th, November 27th, December 3rd/4th and December 17th/18th.
