Tottenham Hotspur are planning a swoop for Belgian International Daniel Van Buyten at Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, according to reports.
Under fire Spurs manager Juande Ramos is keen to add a central-defender as well as a striker to his squad at White Hart Lane in January. With Ramos overlooking his North London sides worst start to a season in 53 years this season in the Premier League.
Ramos needs a central-defender to play alongside Jonathan Woodgate as the Spaniard id not able to play club captain Ledley King in every game due to a persistent knee injury, with Ramos identifying 30-year-old Van Buyten as the perfect foil for England International Woodgate at the heart of the Spurs defence.
Van Buyten arrived at the Allianz Arena in 2006 from SV Hamburg, who are now coached by former Tottenham boss Martin Jol. Van Buyten has made 55 appearances for Bayern and is an experienced International, with nearly 50 caps for Belgium. The defender is no stranger to the Premiership either, having had a short spell on loan with Manchester City in 2004.
