Wigan Boss Bruce: No Man United Deal In Place For Palacios

Wigan Athletic manager Steve Bruce has rejected reports claiming a deal is already in place for Honduran International Wilson Palacios to join Premier League Champions Manchester United.

Recent speculation in the media had suggested that Palacios was to leave the JJB Stadium for Old Trafford, either in the January transfer window or next summer in a £18million deal. However, while former United player Bruce can understand the interest in his star midfielder the Latics boss has insisted that no deal has been agreed with former boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

Bruce told the Wigan Evening Post: “I'm never going to be able to stop speculation like that as everyone knows my connections with United. But there is no deal done, I can tell you that.

“The way Wilson has been playing, he is going to attract the attention of other clubs.

“But certainly nothing is in place at Christmas or next summer.”

Despite insisting no deal is in place, Bruce will find it hard to keep hold of Palacios if United do make a large offer for the midfielder. Given that a fee of £18million could be too big to turn down for the former Birmingham City player that arrived at Wigan for a modest undisclosed fee from Honduran side Olimpia.
