Spurs Join Wigan, West Brom, Everton & Boro In Hunt For Serbian Striker

Tottenham Hotspur are the latest Premier League club to be linked with a January move for Hertha Berlin striker Marko Pantelic, with Everton, Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and West Bromwich Albion all reportedly interested in the Serbian International.

Spurs manager Harry Redknapp is light in the striker department and despite Argentine Fernando Cavenaghi being heavily linked with a switch to White Hart Lane next month from Ligue 1 side Bordeaux. Redknapp sees Pantelic as a cheap option to bolster his frontline at the North London club, with the Serbian out of contract in the summer and it understood that the Berlin side are prepared to let Pantelic leave for the Premiership in January.



30-year-old Pantelic has been at Hertha since joining from Red Star Belgrade in 2005 and has scored 42 goals in 101 Bundesliga appearances during his time at the Olympic Stadium. Pantelic made his International debut for Serbia in 2003 and has been capped 22 times.

Despite the interest of the Latics along with the Toffees, baggies and Boro, Pantelic could favour a move to Spurs due to the fact that he speaks the same language as Tottenham players Luka Modric and Vedran Corluka, who arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer from Dinamo Zagreb and Manchester City respectively.

Tottenham Misfit Ready To Quit White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Kevin-Prince Boateng has claimed that he is ready to quit the Premier League club in January and return to the German Bundesliga after having limited opportunities at the North London club.

21-year-old Boateng joined Spurs from Hertha Berlin in 2007 for £5.5million, but failed to establish himself at White Hart Lane under previous managers Martin Jol and Juande Ramos. With the German Under-21 International revealing that Jol did not even want to sign him and that it was former Tottenham sporting director Damien Comoli, who pushed the deal through to bring the player to the Premiership.

Boateng, found he was not wanted by Ramos either, who refused to give the German a squad number at the start of this season along with Paul Stalteri, Hossam Ghaly, Ricardo Rocha and Adel Taarabt. Ramos even went as far as to ban the five players from using the first team training facilities.

Now that Harry Redknapp is in charge of Tottenham, Boateng continues to be frustrated at White Hart Lane, with the midfielder only making two substitute appearances for Spurs since Redknapp’s arrival from Portsmouth and now feels that is time to seek a new challenge away from Tottenham.

“I have the quality but I certainly don't have a future in London,” he told the People.

“Tottenham signed Modric, Bentley and Pavlyuchenko and there is no place for me.

“Apparently I did not convince Juande Ramos, even though he was not fully fair to me.

“And as for Martin Jol, he never wanted me - he told me himself. Damien Comolli wanted me and pushed my transfer through.”

Janko Cool On Premier League Move - Spurs, Boro, Everton & Hull Linked

Austrian International Marc Janko has played down reports linking the tall striker with a move to the Premier League, with the Red Bull Salzburg forward linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Hull City, Everton and Middlesbrough along with Serie A team AS Roma.

25-year-old Janko has been in fine form this campaign in the Austrian Bundesliga and has scored 20 goals in just 16 games, which has attracted interest from the Premiership as well as Italy and Germany, with Hertha Berlin linked with a move for Janko also.

Some reports have suggested that Janko could buy out his contract at the Red Bull Arena, but the Austrian press suggests that this is unlikely to happen, with the striker, who has been valued at anywhere between £4-8million insisting that for the present his main objective is to carry on scoring goals at the Die Bullen.

"For the moment, scoring goals is a lot easier than responding to all the questions and rumours about whether I will move and to which club," Janko told Kleine Zeitung.

“I must feel good to play well. In Salzburg, the environment is the best.

“(If I move) it will be based on sporting reasons, financial reasons and, above all, on how well I play.”
