Arsenal Boss Wenger: 'We Have The Squad To Cope With Every Problem'

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has insisted that despite claims his Gunners squad lack strength in depth to compete for major trophies this season. The Frenchman is confident his young squad at the Emirates Stadium can cope.

Wenger had to stand and watch on transfer deadline day as Manchester United and their local rivals Man City under their new owner’s the ADUG, brought in big money signings in the final flurry of transfer activity.

Arsenal however, let a host of experienced players leave the North London club this summer, with Jens Lehmann, Gilberto Silva, Alexander Hleb and Matthieu Flamini all leaving the Emirates for pastures new. While Wenger’s only big money signing was French International Samir Nasri from Marseille.

Despite reportedly having a £14million offer rejected by Liverpool for EURO 2008 winner Xabi Alonso late on Monday, Wenger is upbeat that his young guns can face every problem that arises this season.

“We have the squad to cope with every problem we face during the season,” said Wenger.

“I really think it's more interesting for us to look at our strengths and at our quality rather than looking outside. I know that makes headlines but it doesn't win games.”
