Comoli Blames 'Agent Activity' For Spurs Lack Of Strikers

Tottenham Hotspur’s sporting director Damien Comoli has blamed agents for Spurs inability to bring another striker to White Hart Lane before the transfer window slammed shut.

Despite adding Russian International Roman Pavlyuchenko from Spartak Moscow and Frazier Campbell on loan from Manchester United as part of the deal that saw Dimitar Berbatov leave for Old Trafford. Comoli has claimed a third was due to sign, but the deal fell through at the last minute due to interference from agents.

“I am particularly disappointed that we were unable to make one additional signing, another experienced striker,” Comoli said.

“The deal was agreed but fell through in the final moments due to agent activity.”

Comoli is thought to be referring to Sergio Garcia, who opted to leave Real Zaragoza for Real Betis at the last moment, when he was heavily tipped to be joining Juande Ramos’ team in North London. This has left Spurs short of options up front, with Tottenham having made a huge outlay on the midfield during the summer.
