Sunderland's Jones Targets Premier League Return Against Fulham

Sunderland are hoping Trinidad and Tobago International Kenwyne Jones can return to action for the Black Cats ahead of schedule from a knee injury that the striker picked up playing against England.

23-year-old Jones has had to sit on the sidelines at the Stadium of Light since June, but is hoping to make his comeback in October in the Premier League match against Fulham on the 18th, when it was believed the former Southampton target-man would be missing from Roy Keane’s team until the new year.

“I'm trying to get fit for the Fulham game (October 18),” Jones told the Northern Echo.

“I went from having a bad injury, to it scaling down, this means I could return much earlier than first feared.

“I am starting to run again and that is a big relief because it has been frustrating having to sit out the past few weeks.”
