Portsmouth have completed the signing of Nadir Belhadi on a season-long loan from Ligue 1 team Lens.
26-year-old Belhadi will arrive at Fratton Park on an initial years loan, with Pompey having the option of making the move permanent next summer for the former Olympique Lyonnais player.
The Algerian International can play in defence or on the left wing, with Pompey manager Harry Redknapp keen to cover the loss of Sulley Muntari to Serie A giants Inter Milan.
Belhadi is delighted to have made the switch to the Premier League and revealed that Redknapp was a major factor in his decision to move to the South coast club.
“I’m delighted to be at Pompey because it’s a very good club with great players,” Belhadj, told the club’s official website.
“I like the English people and English football so this is an excellent opportunity for me.
“The club chased me for a while now and when I heard that they wanted me, there was only one place where I wanted to come.
‘I wanted to come to Portsmouth. Harry Redknapp is a great manager, and with the players we have here at Portsmouth, I think we can do really well this season.
“I will do my very best to help us be successful.”
