New Liverpool winger Albert Riera has revealed that Anfield was the only destination for him from Espanyol, once he became aware of the Merseyside clubs interest.
Riera completed his move to the Reds on Monday and has signed a four-year deal with Rafa Benitez’s team, with the 26-year-old reportedly snubbing Mersey rivals Everton to join Liverpool.
The winger, who has played in the Premiership before with Manchester City will wear the number 11 shirt for Liverpool and is looking forward to working with Benitez and the squad at the Reds.
“As soon as I knew they were interested in me I knew there was only one club that I wanted to sign for and thankfully it has now happened,” said Riera.
“I know I will have to work very hard to get into the team because there are a lot of good players here but that is a challenge I am looking forward to.
“It feels really good to be a Liverpool player and I am really happy to be at this club.
“I am looking forward to working with the manager and the players.”
