Bolton Wanderers summer signing Riga Mustapha is aiming to push himself into the thought of manager Gary Megson at the Reebok Stadium in the hope of earning his first start for the Trotters in the Premiership.
The Ghanaian-born Dutchman has made two substitute appearances for Bolton in the Premier League, since his transfer from Levante in Spain earlier in the summer.
With record signing Johan Elmander out injured for Megson’s side, Riga feels he is now ready to step forward and fill in for the Swedish International after deputising for the striker in the Carling Cup defeat to Northampton.
“I am getting in shape and I thought my performance was okay on Saturday,” Riga said.
“There are a lot of games to come and I started quite late with my preparations, but I think I am now ready to start games if the coach picks me.
“It is his decision but I feel I am now ready to do my best to win games with the team.”
